Sateen Pant - Black Corduroy

Blluemade's Autumn/Winter '23 collection takes inspiration from the architecture of New England, specifically the charming aesthetics of seaside homes in and around Cape Cod. The way these light, warm buildings, designed around a central hearth, contrast the Northeast's Winter landscape and late Autumn sun informed the color palate of their new styles. The fabrics are selected with a similar mindset, choosing materials that are both soft and strong, comfortably warm but also sturdy and durable, a trait once again shared with the longstanding architecture of New England, as many original Colonial-Era homes still stand today. Taking cues from U.S. Military sateen pants, Blluemade's Sateen Pant simplifies things, trimming down details and giving them the perfect classic chino fit, with a natural leg shape that follows your own without sitting too close or far away. They're not fussy, with a comfortable medium-high rise, tapered legs, and four easy pockets for storage. The top block features some darts in the back for shaping and belt loops for keeping them on your waist, and that's really all you need. They're made from a silky black Italian corduroy, woven from 100% cotton, with a wide wale and subtle shine across its surface. The "wale" of a corduroy fabric refers to the thickness of its vertical rows (called "wales"), where "wide-wale" generally refers to thicker and heavier fabrics, while "narrow-wale" usually indicates more narrow or micro-cords. As soft and warm as any other world-class corduroy, it's got a nice heft to it, with just enough drape and a handsome texture that will only get better with time, as the nap wears down in certain high-friction areas, and the texture slowly changes throughout. Each piece is designed in Brooklyn and then cut-and-sewn together in NYC's Garment District, at a family-owned and women-run workshop that Blluemade have been working with for years.
